A series of unfortunate events
Grrr. I just  wrote this whole post and pushed publish and it didn't work and it didn't save anything but the pictures.Grrr!! Anyways, this is how my evening went the other night. Kyle had just left for work. I made dinner and ate with the kids. As I was cleaning up and getting started on making a batch of banana muffins. The boys made their way upstairs playing. Then there was a huge crash followed by the kind of crying when you know somethings wrong- from both of them. I was already on my way upstairs. I found Adriel pinned under Kyle's large dresser which had fallen on him. Sloan was standing beside the dresser gushing blood from his head and face. I got the dresser off Adriel (amazing the kind of strength you can muster when you need to) and immediately went to Sloan. It was bad. He had a gash under his lip and his hair was soaked with blood, but he wouldn't let me get a look at that cut. I was freaking out. I'm not one of those mothers who looks back after the fact and can say "I was strangely calm about the whole thing" I knew he probably needed stitches and I had no way to get to the hospital. So I called my friend Genevieve. I could barely talk to her I was so worked up.Thank goodness for friends. I have been so blessed. I knew she had car seats and everything. She dropped everything and came right away. She was a huge help with Adriel too, while I had to deal with nurses and dr's looking at Sloan. He had to get stitches on his head and on the gash under his lip. It was a traumatizing experience for both of us. He screamed for me the whole time begging me to pick him up. It's so hard to watch your children in pain! Adriel, amazingly only had a small scratch on his back, which is pretty lucky considering he was the one it landed on. He was afraid to tell me what happened. After I told him he wasn't going to get into trouble, he admitted that they were trying to climb in the drawers. I think the corner hit Sloan on the way down because the poor guy has scrapes and cuts all the way down his face. I don't think they'll be trying that one again. Crazy kids.

Here he is waiting for the dr to put the stitches in. Note the lovely bloody hair.

Me the frazzled mom. I looked awesome all covered in blood, greasy bangs. I'm sure the hospital workers were impressed.

This is him the morning after. Poor guy.

oh my gosh! boys! i always remembered the story of how mom couldn't watch when i got stitches in my lip when i was two. i used to tell everyone about it. series of unfortunate events, indeed. btw, i don't think the dr.s and nurses even cared one whit about your disheveled looks.

wow! Good for you for handling it so well. I've never had to deal with something like that... knock on wood. (or perhaps its because I only have one boy...) And yes, I am sure all the nurses were referring to you as greasy bangs mom...haha not really, c'mon!

holy cow!!!! i always freak out too and don't know what to do. good thing you have someone close that could help. hope it doesn't leave scars in that pretty face ( although i find scars so sexy ;P)

Holy cow, that is terrifying! That is such a relief that you were able to call that friend. Wow. I hope everything heals ok!
