It's been full and busy since Bethany arrived. We spent last week going to the gym, watching things, getting the tree which Mom and Dad came over for, baking for the cookie exchange, working on Christmas projects, attending to babies and well life, you know? The bottom line: we've been having fun.

On Monday we had a snow adventure. Bethany and I had plans to leave the house and go grocery shopping. There was a light dusting of snow once we finally got out the door, but I didn't think much of that because it's been doing that for the last week, on and off. It had taken us a while to get out of the house due to sleeping babies. When one was sleeping, the other was awake and vise versa. So by the time we left it was getting to be late in the day. Adriel, who I had woken up from his nap was being terribly whiney because he didn't want to wake up I guess. Sometimes he just wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. He kept saying "I don't want to go to Superstore!" all the way there, so I stopped at dropped him off at Ann's. That was a mistake I guess, because when we came back out the snow was really coming down, and my car was having troubles. It wasn't terrible but it was not good. I thought of phoning and Ann and saying, "you can keep Adriel" but i didn't because I knew she wouldn't really like that. By the time I got him packed into the car of screaming babies, it was too late. The first way I tried to get out didn't happen, too steep of a hill. I knew the other way was more back-roadish and windy, but we tried it anyway. It was scary. I tried to take the hills as fast as I could go to get the need momentum, but hills combined with windy roads aren't kind to my car. I lost control and my tires slipped and I went into a ditch. It was scary. I yelled. But luckily when my car goes into reverse it's not as bad, so I was able to get out. We inched and inched and scraped and slid and Bethany pushed at one point. I got a little bit further but I just got too scared of losing control of the vehicle again. Kyle was on his way at this point in the truck. He had been studying at school for his exam the next day. He tried to drive the car and also found it was just impossible. So we had to leave it parked on the side of the road and take a few trips to get home. He took Bethany, Owen and groceries the first trip and Adriel, Sloan and I waited in the car. By the time we got home it was after 7:30 and we hadn't even eaten dinner yet. Good times.

Now the snow is almost gone as if it had never been here, and it's pouring rain. I'm not a huge fan of the rain, but at least we can leave the house.

Bethany and I decided to pick out some more decorations for my tree, and we've been slowly improving it. It's looking quite pretty if I do say so myself.

When Bethany is bored she draws in her sketch book. She draws faces and a body and I get to pick out the hair. It's fun. She's good and drawing what I picture in my mind and even when it's not exactly what I had pictured, the people end up looking good. Oh to be able to draw. I'm so bad at that stuff it's painful.

What else? It's been hard for us to get out and get things done, because Kyle has been pretty busy, meaning I always have my two boys, plus Bethany has Owen and it makes for at least a little piece of craziness when we go into public. Mostly because of Adriel and Sloan though. But we usually end up going out somewhere at least once a day because staying home is just a little boring. When is this going to get easier???

Who named them bobby pins, anyway?
"You're dead to me." This is what I said to my bobby pin as I dropped in onto my bathroom counter. It is not the first. Bobby pins become dead to me when one of the "pillows" as I like to call them (the rounded bulbous part at the end) fall off. If you make the mistake of trying to use one with a pillow missing, the result is scraping of the scalp and, well, pain. I thought you should know the relationship I share with bobby pins. Zero tolerance for the pillowless. It hasn't always been this way. I've raised my standard since becoming a hairdresser. I used to have precious few bobby pins and sometimes use the ones that were pillowless out of desperation. Not no more. I have plenty of bobby pins, and if I run out, I'll get more. They won't get the best of me.

Cribbity Bedding

Here's my loverly new crib bedding. The bumper pads are reversable, so I can have green on the outside or blue. I'm quite happy with it.
