A Raw Throat
Throat's raw, just in case you didn't get that from the title of this blog. Sloan is sick, which usually means I get sick, what with the constant nose wiping and him touching me with snotty hands before I can stop him. Kyle brought me home a frappuccino to soothe my sore throat. He's good like that.

I love the age that Sloan is at. I don't want him to get any older. He's just so incredibly adorable to me. He's talking so much now. Not in full sentences, and half the time I'm the only one who knows what he's saying, but it's so cute! And there's something about snuggling with his little fleece covered body in the morning that makes me feel so happy to be his Mom. The only down side is that he never lets Adriel cuddle with me. And big four year olds still need snuggles too.

Tonight I have soccer. This excites me. All our games are at the U of M (which is nice because it's close) in this huge facility that has many turf fields. My first game was a bit nerve wracking, just because it has been so long since I've played a real game with rules and a ref and half time, and subs. The games aren't actually that long- two twenty-five minute halves. We don't have a real goalie as of yet though, which is troublesome since they sort of want everyone to have a turn in net, and I'm soooo bad, plus I don't like it. There's no coach, we just sub on and off when we want...which is sort of frequent, since there's a LOT of running at full speed in soccer. I get wiped out so fast. Gone are the teenage days of being in shape without ever trying. I used to hate being subbed out of a game. Now I need to be. My team is a wide range of ages from early twenties to 40s. I also feel like I don't have a real position. Originally I liked midfield, but we don't have those. And in the last eight or so years as I've played for fun with brothers and things, I always played defense, and I was good at it. We play six on the field. One in net, two defence and three forwards, with the centre person running back to help on defense. In reality though, you're playing the whole field the whole time. I turn into a beet from the sweating and running. It's all good though. I love it. Absolutely love it. The old gray mare just ain't what she used to be.

how dare you refer to yourself as an 'old gray mare'!! It's strange to me that anyone would love soccer so much. More power to ya. I'm sure you'll get in shape in no time though. Sounds like you're getting nice and settled into the community.

I love the age Owen's at too. The older he gets it seems the more adorable and funner he gets.

bethany don't like beets. too bad. after i read this post i went around singing the old grey mare.

I think you'll find the 'old grey mare' will soon be a sleek young mare again (can't be a filly any more, now that you're married and have 2 kids, sorry) in no time.
