Oh Alright
After reading Laura's blogs, I feel I should at least write a little about my trip to Calgary. It's just that when things like a big trip happen, I feel overwhelmed about writing about them when I get back. Also, I have lots of pictures to show too.

We stayed with Tasha, which ended up being so much fun for us. Adriel and her daughter Elina played so well together and had a blast continually. Vaughn and Kyle get along well too. Vaughn took us a while to like the last time we visited. We didn't know him very well, and apparently he was nervous, which made him act weirder than usual. Once you know him though, he's very likable. He's nerdy but goodlooking which is a weird combonation. Anyway, as a couple to hang out with, Tasha and Vaughn are a lot of fun. We played many a game, including singstar, which we introduced to them. A bunch of people came over to play including Alisha Kraushar and her husband which was random but fun. We went to the zoo with Kyle's Dad. It was my first time meeting him and also (obviously) his first time meeting his only grandchildren. That was interesting. It was a little awkward as it had been 14 years since Kyle had seen his dad. We had a nice time with him though, and it was nice to finally meet him. We also went to Calaway park, which is an amusement park. Andrea actually recommended it to me, and it did not disappoint. There were tons of rides for Adriel to go on, and him and Elina had an absolute blast. We got there first thing in the morning and stayed almost until it closed. Laura joined us for that day, which equals good times. There were lots of rides that we could ride with the kids too, and that was fun. There was one time worth mentioning, after lunch where Laura and I decided to do the bumper boats. There was a long line up and Elina and Adriel weren't tall enough to go on. We waited and waited. Meanwhile Tasha had all the kids. Just as it was almost our turn to go on, it turned cloudy (it had been hot up until then) and poured this huge outpoor of rain, totally drenching us. I was like "I don't want to go on anymore!!" Laura was like "you have to, we waited all this time!" So we got into our soggy boats, already soaked and put putted around. Adriel saw me and got really upset that he couldn't be in the boat with me and kept trying to climb over the fence into the water...That was a low point I think. I also have to mention that while Laura was on one of the rides with Adriel and Elina, Elina said "My tummy is telling me that I like this ride" which we all had a good chuckle over.

Also, at church we saw Pat Hansen, which was random, and a guy I dated for a while when I lived there. That was uncomfortable, especially because he sat down right next to me in Sunday school. I don't think he knew who I was at that point. He ended things with me (we weren't serious, or "seclusive") to start dating this other girl who he wound up marrying. Turns out that same girl used to have a thing for Kyle and tried to date him. Oh well, I got the better man, and our kids are cuter...(I didn't really notice what their kids look like, actually, but I'm sure it must be true)

We spent our last night at Karey's house. Only we didn't get there nearly as early as planned, which was Kyle's fault. It was a nice visit, but brief. I fixed Karey's haircut, and we visited. Adriel bounded around the house. Karey made me my own scripture case, which I LOVE. It seems like the past few times I've seen Karey, it just hasn't been long enough for a real visit. It's always been brief. Anyway, next summer there are plans in the works.

The trip was over too fast, and we didn't get to do all the things we wanted to. We were sad to leave.

Laura, starting the trip out right.

Huffing and puffing up the steep 1.6 km hike that Kyle insisted would only take us 4 minutes. yeah, maybe if we were olympians!

The view was nice though

That's Laura's arm and head next to my Monster.

I like this one of us.

Nothing like some self portraits

It was cold. Sloan was wearing summer clothes. What could I do?

Two cuties eating macaroni and cheese in their underoos...Adriel had posing problems.

Sitting on the big bean bag chair (only it wasn't bean bag...I don't know what it was) eating chips together.

This is Kyle's dad.

The baby gorilla was really cute!!

The log ride was SO fun! We got soaked though.

This is what Megan and Sloan got to do while big sister and brother got to have all the fun.

They rode this ride with Laura, three times in a row.

Chillin.

We finished off our trip with a visit at Mom and dads. I couldn't help but notice the difference in grandpas. I couldn't help but feel happy and glad that my children have my Dad as a grandpa. Dad showed so much more natural affection towards Sloan, saying things like "I've hardly gotten to know you." and things like that. Not that I expected Kyle's dad to be like that instantly, necessarily... I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm glad that I have a father who is an active participant in my life, and I hope that Kyle and his dad can build a better relationship because I don't think it's too late.
