It's about time innit?
Not that much has been going on around here these days. Since we got back from Calgary, we've basically just been hanging out at home. I can't believe summer is almost over. It makes me feel really sad. Summer is just so fun, and mine was full of fun things this year.
Both my kids are sick and that bites.
Adriel has been very affectionate to me lately, giving me hugs and kisses and telling me he loves me. I think hearing your child tell you they love you is one of the best feelings. When I sit down on the couch, he snuggles right into my lap. He always wants to be near me, and although that bugs me sometimes, I'm glad he loves me so much.
Then there's Sloan. Huge mamma's boy too. And since he's been feeling sick, I have hardly been allowed to put him down. It gets hard to get things done around my house. He's getting pretty mobile, he does this crawl sort of thing that gets him around. He absolutely loves Adriel and wants to play with him and his toys all the time. When Adriel makes him laugh, it's one of the cutest things ever.
So what else to talk about? Kyle? Woodchuck? Also known as Buzzcut, since he got back from basic training? Kyle's been working, and rock climbing. He got rock climbing gear for his birthday and he has taken up rock climbing with Dave as a form of exercise which takes him away from home more than I'd like, but I want him to have fun. I'm just selfish. And I'm a little bit stuck on what's fair. If kyle gets to go out and have fun with his friend with no kids, I should be allowed the same, shouldn't I? Kyle agrees, and has offered for me to do something fun, like take a class, or spend time alone or with friends, which is nice. Last night I finally got some new bras. I know that I need to accept motherhood fully. As in, I love my kids, I chose to have them, and I'm their mom. They need me. More than they need Kyle. That's my role as a Mom. Moms and Dads are not the same. Equally important, but not the same.
I can be so very dull sometimes.
One time I called Laura and left several messages on her answering machine and cell phone voice mail. In one, I confessed that I had a bad case of the jowelies. You should also know, that after I cut Laura's hair (also known as the popcorn ball 'do) there were two long pieces in the back that revealed themselves after drying. I cut them off. Laura placed them in Kyle's back pocket of his jeans. He wasn't wearing them at the time, if that's what you were thinking. I waited and waited for him to discover it, and I didn't think it would be hard because he keeps his wallet in that very pocket. Finally I told him Laura left a present for him and when he reached in and pulled it out, he threw it at my face in disgust! Now hair doesn't gross me out as much as the next person, due to my profession, but that was gross.
I think this has gone on long enough, don't you?
