"Sisterhood is sistergood" - Laura Clarke
This week Katie and I went to Vancouver to visit Laura. Basically I weasled my way into going. Originally it was supposed to just be Katie. Here are some of the hilights of the trip
On the ferry ride over Adriel entertained us with his sillyness. He got stuck between the chair and the wall in a really small space. It was rather cute of him. Here he looks happy, but he wasnt for long. As soon as he figured out how stuck he was, it wasnt fun for him any more.

He was quite occupied with the whitespot cup and chewed right through the bottom. I kept having to fish pieces of it out of his mouth. We thought the view of his little teeth clamping down on the cup was funny. It was a hard one to catch because he kept biting over and over. ha ha.

When Laura picked us up from the ferry we agreed to go to whole foods. It was, afterall, a tradition of ours and we were excited to let Katie in on it.
We got tandoori salmon nuggets and pizza and panini's and desserts (one was a Bethknee kind. You would have picked it Bethany for our tradition. ) oh yeah and a really good chicken salad with asparagus among other things. It turned out to be a rather expensive dinner as whole foods tends to be expensive. Theres just too many yummy things to choose from though. They dont make it easy on you.
Laura told Katie concerning her allergy to cats that she'd properly do the thing that she didnt do properly for me when I came before- and as a result suffered horribly. Funny she never mentioned to me that things could have been done about it. Instead she let me suffer. Sometimes she has no heart.
We went home and I gave adriel a bath. Just as I was sitting down on the ledge the shower curtain came crashing down on me. I realized afterwards that it was because I sat on part of it. Woops. Then for some reason unknown to me, Adriel was terrified of being in the bath. So I had to get in with him.
Then we started to watch stranger than fiction. Katie and I were both tired but Laura wouldnt let us go to sleep- another example of her black heart shining through. I managed to stay awake but Katie kept slipping away. Her chair was positioned quite close to the tv because she forgot her glasses and her contacts were bugging her and she had to take them out. Little did I know that a thing so simple as Katie forgetting her glasses would cause me some personal stress...
Laura made us watch to a certain part, which was a good part- I'll give her and her black heart the credit when its rightly earned, however Katie was asleep and didnt get to enjoy it. I slept in Elicias room with my boy and Katie and Laura slept together in Laura's room.
In the morning we took Laura to work. It was decided that I would be the one driving (which I never like to do in Vancouver if I can avoid it) thanks to Katie and her contacts. We decided on the way to work that Katie and I would go to Ikea until Laura needed Adriel for her show and tell. well well well. Laura gave us confusing directions and we ended up asking a guy. He told us a completely different way. Once we got there though it was closed. For some reason I was under the impression that Ikea's open early. No siree bob. So we decided to make our way back to Laura's work (our time was running out anyhow) All the while we were very aware that we need to find a gas station. We had a little bit of time so we wandered down busy street after busy street looking and expecting to find one SOMEWHERE!!! We did find one, and just as we pulled in, realized that it was all pyloned off because they were refilling with gas or something. We were almost out of time when we decided to just go back to laura's work. It was too late. We ran out of gas on quite a busy street with no where to pull over. I had to stop at an intersection and then Katie got out to push. We were in a panic. Neither of us had ran out of gas before. She pushed us surprisingly far on her own. However, even around the corner, there was no where near to pull over. By the way, both of us had just woken up prior to this, although Katie put her jeans on, I was wearing my pajamma bottoms that were too short. I told Katie to go into the car dealership and ask for some guys to help push us. When she went in and explained the situation, the guy wordlessly left the room, and came back with a Jerry can in hand and filled us up some. It was a lifesaver! We went back to Larua's work where they were all waiting for us. I was suddenly embarrassed. All eyes on us, me with my bedhead and pj's that only made it down to my ankles. To top it off Adriel smelled like pooh. At least everyone thought he was cute. Should have just let laura show Dave, whom she was orifinally going to bring in for show and tell. Oh well.
We went back to the apartment, and had breakfast. Katie made a yummy bagel with aged cheddar and we watched the rest of stranger than fiction. It was quite good. Adriel played the whole time with the cat toys and the cat box thing. This caused the cats to be interested in their toys too. By the time he was done, his fleece jammies were covered in hair. He went down for a nap
I showered and got ready. Its always fun to try out laura's make up while im at her house. After I was dolled up, I moved to the living room to get started on Katie. She was doing Lauras taxes which date back to 1995. I flat ironed her hair. It was weird to see Katie with straight hair. Once I was done we decided that it didnt do much for her little face because it made her hair so much longer and it dragged her face down. Something we fixed with a cute headband of Laura's. She then went on to test out some more of Laura's makeup. After helping ourselves to the makeup we mosied on into Laura's room and started looking through her jewlery. She has an abundance of cute accessories. We tried on different things til we found what was right for our "looks."
Then we ventured out. We ate at the donair place first. YUMZORS. It wasnt my first time, but still i had forgotten quite how yummy it really was. Katie was face to face with smouldering eyes for her first time, although it had been a while I was a little confused about which guy it was. We didnt have the same affect on him as Laura clearly did anyway. His smouldering wasnt turned on high for us. Just a little bit of a singe.
Our plan was to go to metrotown where I bought my heart shirt. We went the wrong way. Once again I was driving. Katie was directing. We found ourselves among beautiful mansions, but no metrotown. Once we figured it out and were back on course, we hit really bad traffic due to construction. We were running out of time again. We finally decided to go to Ikea instead. A LONG LONG time after, we got there. I love going through Ikea. We went to the kids section first and I found the changing table I want. I even changed adriel on it, only to discover that I had forgotten to restock my diaper bag with diapers before we left. I thought that it was going to be a big problem but they just so happen to give out free diapers at the children's play area. That was a relief. We found many a pretty light, duvet covers, the perfect chair for Laura's room, and of course bought some cookies. One roll of chocolate hazelnut ones called Ballerina and a roll of raspberry jelly cream ones that we pronounced sin-go-walla. This offended Laura later on. On the way to pick Laura up from work, Adriel was getting fussy and I knew it was because he was hungry, so he had his first cookie. I just gave him the whole thing. I knew it would be messy, but I had no idea it would be that bad. His face was covered. There was chocolate all over his jacket and his carseat. His hands were coated in a paste of chocolate and crumbs, and he LOVED it!!! of course. Cleaning him up contributed to us being late picking Laura up from work. Sorry Laura.
We then went to the Japanese dollar store. We spent a LONG time there. I bought some shi-tew and a cool pen and some doube sided tape because they have good stuff and you never know when you may need some. Katie searched and searched for a gift for her girls but nother Laura and I pointed out was good enough. Laura found an animal that was japaneseish looking (because Katie wanted it to have a Japanese look to it) and just held it up and waved it around hoping that Katie would spot it from where she was located in the store and want to get it. It didnt work. Laura found several nice notebooks to buy, and I learned that she digs a good notebook, and that she cant have too many of them.
From there we went to the threading place where Laura and Katie had their eyebrows nicely shaped. Adriel fell asleep in the car. We decided on the fish cafe to eat. It was good. We got a platter. It was here that I took pictures of Katie and Laura together. The first one Laura protested that her head always looks so big next to Katies, so I took another. I pointed out to Katie that she has a pretty smile and doesnt need to shy away from the camera so much. She argued that she has a tendancy to look "sinewy". Whatever. Later she complained that it didnt match the rest of her body. "You want to look sinewy all over?"

We got home just in time for Survivor. It was somewhat satisfying too. Then Laura and Katie did more taxes together while I put Adriel to bed. I was exhausted. We all went to bed.
Early in the morning we got up and Laura drove us to the ferry before work. We listened to Laura loves oddity. It was a good one. We had a nice time. In the words of laura: Sisterhood is sistergood. I love spending time with my sisters. It was nice to spend time with Katie too. She's usually quite busy around here.
